Show Me Your Glory

The last couple of days, I have had two verses stuck in my head.

Exodus 33:18
“And he said, I beseech thee, shew me thy glory.”
Isaiah 6:5
“Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts.”

What truly fascinates me is leading up to Moses asking the Lord to show him his glory he had already seen (the following).
  • The angle of the Lord appeared to him in a burning bush. (Exodus 3:2)
  • Heard the Lord's voice commission him to bring the children of Israel out of Egypt. ( Exodus 3:10)
  • He saw a miracle- hand became Leprous then restored to normal.(Exodus 4:6-7)
  • The miracle of the rod turned into a serpent as the Lord said it would. (Exodus 7:10)
  • A glimpse of what Jesus would do on the cross. (Exodus 12:1-28)
  • The importance of dedicating our children to the Lord.(Exodus 13:21-22)
  • The Lords guidance through a cloud in the day and fire by night.(Exodus 13:21-22)
  • The Red Sea parted. (Exodus 14:21)
  • Protection from disease when the commandments are not broken.(Exodus 15:26)
  • Provision through manna & quail. (Exodus 16:12-16)
  • The miracle of water from a rock. (Exodus 17: 6-7)
  • The knowledge of how to live by God's laws through the ten commandments. (Exodus 20:1-17)
  • The importance of worship only for God. (Exodus 20:22-26)

If Moses had already seen all these miracles why (in) Exodus 33:18 did he ask God to show him his glory? I have always equated his glory to simply mean his presence, but Moses had his presence all throughout. (S0) was it (His Glory)  manifestations, signs, and wonders? I don’t think so, he had seen a lot of that.

In Isaiah 6:5- where Isaiah is undone, the verses leading up to that mentions God’s glory.

Isaiah 6:3-4
“And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory. And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke.”

I believe the words show me your glory- come from a heart that has seen what God can do - has had times when the have heard him speak so strongly it sounds like he’s right in the room - and (is) no longer content with anything less than everything- the shift from desire to desperation to know- to truly know every detail of this amazing God we serve - And I strongly believe when that desperation becomes all our heart desires- then like moses we will see his glory - and like Isaiah in that moment we will be undone and unable to even speak. Because his glory is his holiness

One last thought on this I believe the Lord truly sees the heart that is longing to know him more, the heart that will not rest until they've seen his glory. Moses did not enter the promised land but Moses was at the transfiguration.

Mark 9:3-4
“And his raiment became shining, exceeding white as snow; so as no fuller on earth can white them and there appeared unto them  Elijah and Moses ; and they were talking with Jesus.”

And based on Rev. 11:6 & Malachi 4.4 seems Moses will be one of the two witnesses.

I believe in spite of Moses failures sins and temper tantrums when he asked the lord to show him his glory- the Lord saw a heart that truly wanted all of Him
